Man Struck by Bicycle In Laguna Canyon Hospitalized

The man, believed to be in his 60s-70s, was injured about 12:35 p.m.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA -- A man was airlifted to a hospital Saturday after being struck by a bicycle on a trail in Laguna Canyon, authorities said. The man, believed to be in his 60s-70s, was injured about 12:35 p.m. while hiking near 18751 Laguna Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man was knocked unconscious, suffered a head laceration and was airlifted by Orange County Fire Authority helicopter to Mission Hospital, OCFA Capt. Tony Bommarito said.

CHP officers responded to the scene but declined to handle the case because it was on a hiking trail, not a roadway, and no crime was committed, the CHP said.
