Not Your Average Financial Education Workshop for Laguna Beach Students

Cal State Fullerton's College of the Arts brings financial education-themed musical production to Laguna Beach High School.

Laguna Beach High School students are in for a fun surprise on October 7th. Cal State Fullerton’s College of the Arts, in conjuction with the university’s Division of Student Affairs and Bank of America, is bringing a financial education-themed musical production to the high school. The 35-minute production called “#MoneyM@tter$” will be performed by current CSUF students and will go through various financial scenarios that touches on making wise money decisions.

The production was started by theater alumnus Tim Alexander at the university four years ago as a student, and now the show is going on the road. The production was funded by Bank of America and over the past four years, Bank of America has provided $80,000 in grant funding to CSUF for its financial wellness program.

“#MoneyM@tter$” puts a unique and interesting spin on important topics such as identity theft, debt, online safety, financial aid, credit card responsibility and how to budget and save, among other topics. Two performances are scheduled for seniors and juniors at Laguna Beach High School.

Following each musical performance, a Bank of America Better Money Habits Champion will hold a Q&A about financial wellness, as well as provide resources and tools available to students through Bank of America.
