📰 News we're reading

1. Diane Keaton's Laguna Beach Home Hits Market: Report (patch.com) — Laguna Beach readers may be intrigued that a blufftop home once owned by the late Oscar-winning actor Diane Keaton is on the market for $10.3 million. Overlooking Table Rock Beach, the 1976-built, 2,698-square-foot property features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, multi-level living spaces, and sweeping ocean views. A report notes it was previously purchased by Laguna Beach Residence LLC after renovations.

2. El Niño's impact on aging California schools may be severe, experts warn (newsbreak.com) — Laguna Beach families are being warned that local public schools, already dealing with roof leaks and aging infrastructure, could face serious damage and closures if a powerful El Niño hits this winter. Statewide experts describe widespread vulnerabilities, from coastal flooding and king tides to stressed levees, while superintendents in districts like Laguna Beach and Pajaro outline preparations, emergency planning, and potential shifts to remote learning.

3. The city of Laguna 100226 (stunewslaguna.com) — Laguna Beach is spotlighting local hunger relief, with Mayor Mark Orgill presenting a proclamation to Laguna Food Pantry and Second Harvest Food Bank recognizing September as Hunger Action Month. Even though September has ended, the Pantry on Laguna Canyon Road still needs volunteers and donations, especially drivers for grocery rescue, to keep free weekday drive-through groceries available for neighbors in need.

4. Festival of Arts expands 100226 (stunewslaguna.com) — Laguna Beach's Festival of Arts has added two new paintings to its Permanent Art Collection, both celebrating the city's coastline from Heisler Park by moonlight to a glowing sunset. The works by Michael Situ and Jason Li deepen the festival's century-long record of Laguna Beach's artistic identity, and residents can explore the collection through local exhibits and online resources.
