LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The City of Laguna Beach is about to embark on a new project to improve access points at Moss Beach, and the public was urged to save the date for a very special ceremony.

The Moss Beach Groundbreaking Ceremony takes place Monday, Oct. 2, and residents who join in on the ceremony will hear from special guests Senator David Min and Assemblywoman Diane Dixon.

According to the city, the staircase that provides public access to Moss Beach have been periodically repaired over the year — including last year's installation of a temporary wood step extension to the sand.

"However, continuing to repair the stairs is no longer an option," according to the city's website. "Complete replacement is required to ensure public safety and continued access for future generations."

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held by the Laguna Beach Public Works Department at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2. at Moss Street Beach Access.
