Public Invited To Moss Street Beach Access Opening Ceremony
The City of Laguna Beach will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Moss Street Beach Access and the public was urged to attend.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Moss Street Beach Access is underway, and the City of Laguna Beach urged residents to attend Friday, May 17.
At the grand opening, residents will see a number of improvements and enhancements at the popular beach access point.
Improvements include replacement of the existing stairs with new stairs, walkways, bike rakes and enhanced landscaping, the city said. The design features colored concrete steps, walkways, board-formed concrete retaining walls and a mix of native and drought-tolerant plants.

According to the city, the new stairs have been realigned to offer better a better viewing experience of Moss Point while traveling down the stairs to the beach.
In addition, the shores of the beach have a new enclosed lifeguard tower that holds a single occupant and will significantly improve working conditions for lifeguards assigned to Moss Cove.

The project lasted roughly eight months with a total construction cost of $1,770,000. According to the city, a huge chunk of the cost was covered by Senator Dave Min, who secured $1,225,000 in state funding for the project.
βThe Moss Street Beach Access has undergone a transformative renovation,β said Laguna Beach Mayor Sue Kempf. βThe upgraded features, including redesigned stairs, walkways, and a new lifeguard tower, not only enhance accessibility but also preserve the natural beauty of our coastline. This project underscores the Cityβs commitment to improving coastal access and environmental stewardship."
The grand opening celebration is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. at the terminus of Moss Street at the beach.
