Road Closures In Place As Hospitality Night Gears Up In Laguna Beach

Road closures will be in place in Downtown Laguna Beach in anticipation of the city's Hospitality Night. Here's what to know.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” The best block party of the year is just around the corner, and city crews are setting up in preparation for the annual Hospitality Night in Downtown Laguna Beach.

Laguna Beach residents can join in and be a part of the fun free of charge, and even take the city's free trolley to get them to and from the celebration.

Street closures will also be in place throughout Downtown Laguna Beach, the city said.

According to the city, street closures in the downtown area will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, with portions of Forest Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Beach Street and the Peppertree Parking Lot closed to motor traffic before and during the event.

The Pepper Tree and Mermaid city parking lots will be closed prior to the event, the city said.

Parking in the metered spaces downtown along Forest Avenue and Glenneyre Street, and portions of Ocean Avenue and Beach Street, will also be prohibited after 3 p.m.

Motorists should avoid the area, as there will likely be more traffic than usual.

The schedule for Hospitality Night is as follows, according to the city:

  • 3:30 p.m. Downtown street closures begin*
  • 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Free trolley and neighborhood on-demand service.
  • 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Elementary schools Honors Choruses performs on Fountain Plaza stairs.
  • 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thurston Middle School Bands performs in the Peppertree Lot.
  • 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy holiday crafts and activities in the Peppertree Lot.
  • 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Laguna Beach Presbyterian Art Market, La Playa Tamales, Homemade Cookies and Cider, Open Sanctuary, Dinner2Go, Prayer Candles, and Caroling.
  • 5:30 to 5:55 p.m. Ukulele Band performs on Peppertree Stage.
  • 5:55 to 6:10 p.m. Community sing along in Peppertree Lot.
  • 6:10 p.m. Santa Claus and the Mayor arrive at the Peppertree Lot to light the tree.
  • 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Laguna Community Concert JaZz Band performs.
  • 6:30 to 9 p.m. Santa Claus arrives at his outdoor deck at The Promenade to listen to children's Christmas wishes.
  • 6:30 to 6:45 p.m. Anneliese School performs on Main Stage on Forest Ave.
  • 6:45 to 7 p.m. Mary Schmidt Line Dancing in front of main stage on Forest Ave.
  • 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dupp Brothers play live on main stage on Forest Ave.
  • 8:30 to 10 p.m. Lightwaves Band play live on main stage on Forest Ave.
  • 6:30 to 10 p.m. Business open houses.

Laguna Beach's annual Hospitality Night takes place Friday, Dec. 2 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Peppertree Lot, 322 Forest Ave.

Residents can hop aboard the city's free trolley from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. to attend the event, the city said.

Residents can hop aboard the city's free trolley service along Coast Highway, as well as Laguna Beach Local on-demand service to Top of the World, Bluebird Canyon and Arch Beach Heights neighborhood, will operate the day of the event until 10 p.m.
