Sandbags Available As Laguna Beach Prepares For Storm

Laguna Beach residents are urged to prepare for the coming storm and expected flood conditions heading toward the coastal town.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” The City of Laguna Beach is expected to be impacted by a storm Tuesday, March 14 through Wednesday, March 19, which will bring intermittent periods of heavy rain and potential localized flooding.

The most significant part of the storm is predicted late Tuesday evening and continuing through Wednesday morning. A flash flood watch is in effect from Tuesday to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Downtown and Canyon residents and business owners are encouraged to put your flood gates into place during the evening hours while your business is closed as a precautionary measure to protect your property and inventory.

As a reminder, the City of Laguna Beach is providing pre-filled sandbags to residents and business owners from two locations. These sandbags are not for contractors.

  • Act V parking lot – 1900 Laguna Canyon Road
  • Aliso Beach East parking – 31118 Coast Highway

Unfilled empty bags are available at any Laguna Beach fire station.

Laguna Beach residents are used to flooding during storms, but sometimes they can be taken by surprise, as in December of 2021. The service reported that most flood deaths occur in vehicles, so if you encounter a flooded area while driving β€” turn around and don't drown.
