MISSION VIEJO, CA — Mission Viejo residents looking to get into the Halloween spirit can join in on a couple spooky-themed community contest for cool prizes and eternal bragging rights, the city announced Wednesday.

Residents interested in taking part of the second annual Mission Viejo Halloween and Fall Home Decorating Contest can participate by decorating their homes and submit their entries by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7.

First-place winners of the contest will receive a certificate, winner yard sign, an 8 x 10 photo and a gift basket, the city said.

There is no cost to enter the contest and categories include: Best Theme, Most Creative, Scariest, Pumpkin-Tastic and Best Special Effects.
