Shake Shack Set for Reopening

The iconic Coast Highway eatery is back in business after an extensive remodel.

The Shake Shack, a Crystal Cove landmark that's been a regular haunt for tourists and locals (and Rachael Rayβ€”for a day, anyway) is open again after an extensive remodeling.

Still owned by the Ruby's Diner chain, which purchased it in 2006, the now fully handicapped-accessible Shack boasts new grills, a bigger menu (don't worry, the date shakes haven't been dropped, AND there'll be burgers in addition to just sandwiches and hot dogs), a larger parking lot, a spiffy new umbrella-draped redwood eating deck with room for 60, an actual restroom (no more hiking down the stairs to use the Crystal Cove facilitiesβ€”or whizzing in the bushes), and a return to its bright-yellow paint job, which had for years been the building's primary color until it was changed to white at the time of the Ruby's buy.

There's also that spectacular-ocean-view thing, too ...
