SIGALERT Eastbound 91 Shut Down After Multi-Car Crash, Car Fire

Eastbound 91 traffic was at a standstill while westbound traffic reopened at 6:30 a.m. Drivers joining the fray were slowed from Corona.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A multiple car crash on the eastbound 91 closed all lanes of that freeway for over two hours Tuesday morning. Drivers were stuck while officials ran a traffic break to clear the roadway of disabled vehicles and debris from the collision.

The eastbound 91 west of Imperial Highway Fasttrack and the #1-4 lanes were closed due to incident cleanup, while the 5, 6 and 7 lanes were open. Traffic remained significantly impacted during the incident.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on the eastbound 91 at Imperial Highway, caused one car to be completely engulfed in flames. Other drivers reported being struck by glass and debris from the collision.

One car was fully engulfed in flames, according to California Highway Patrol officers. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but as of this report, it is unclear if anyone was seriously injured.

As of 6:30 a.m., the westbound 91 had reopened, according to CHP.
