Test Scores Find Most Laguna Beach Students at High Levels

Eight grade levels were examined in the California Standardized Testing and Reporting survey.

The 2010 California Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) test results for schools, counties, districts, and the state have been released.

The overall results show that the majority of 2nd-grade through 11th-grade students in the tested at levels that were either "primarily advanced" or "proficient."

In the three other categories—"basic," "below basic" and "far below basic"—the most difficult subject for any one group appeared to be 10th-grade algebra 1. In this subject, 13 percent of 34 students tested at "far below basic," with 44 percent testing at "below basic." Zero students tested at advance levels.

Algebra 1, however, was also the subject that had the best performance numbers, at least among 7th-graders, with 83 percent of the 36 students testing at the "advanced" level.

Other subjects tested included English, math, geometry, chemistry, physics and world and U.S. history. Not all subjects are taught at all grade levels.
