LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” One of America's oldest tiki bars is being rebuilt by some formidable hospitality names, including Dushan Zaric of Employees only, Eater Los Angeles reported.

The Royal Hawaiian opened at 331 N. Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach in 1947. It was originally opened by Philippines-born Francis Cabang and Harold "Hal" Hanna, two World War II veterans. Back then, the Royal Hawaiian served as a hangout for tiki fanatics and families.

The new Royal Hawaiian is expected to open by early June, the report said, and will feature a forward-thinking cocktail menu and an opening menu that includes Korean, Filipino, Japanese and Chamorro foods.
