Trash Rates In Laguna, Traffic Delays Start Monday: 5 Things To Know

Here's five things to know to get your week started in Laguna Beach.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” It's the start of a new week, Laguna Beach β€” and Patch has the run-down on everything that you need to know as you get your Monday started.

Here are five things to know in Laguna Beach for the week of Monday, May 22.

  1. On Friday, the City of Laguna Beach will host its regular Sunset Serenade event featuring the Alma Nova Duo. The free event takes place at the Heisler Park Amphitheater, near the corner of Cliff Drive and Jasmine Street, and residents were encouraged to bring blankets or low-rise chairs to enjoy the show. Show starts at 6:30 p.m., and residents were encouraged to show up early.
  2. Last week, the Laguna Beach City Council adopted a resolution setting the maximum residential solid waste collection service rates for Fiscal Year 2023-2024. The Fiscal Year 2023-2024 will be $329.58 for a single unit, $511.25 for a duplex, $679.31 for a triplex, $854 for a fourplex and $1,013.66 for a fiveplex.
  3. Starting Monday, the city's contractor will start drilling piles for the Bluebird Canyon Drive Evacuation Route Widening Project located roughly 800 feet ease of Oriole Drive to Rancho Laguna Road. The drilling will require one lane of traffic to be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and is expected to last one month. The overall project duration is seven months.

  4. Laguna Beach community members got a first look at design concepts for the Promenade on Forest Wednesday night during a public workshop held by the city. Residents who were unable to attend the meeting but wish to provide input were asked to email promenade@lagunabeachcity.net by Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
  5. Last week, the Laguna Beach City Council directed city staff to move forward with a market rate fee structure for the 16 restaurants participating in the outdoor dining program. Councilmembers directed staff to return to a future council meeting to extend the Promenade on Forest's Coastal Development Permit and Temporary Use Permit until January 2027.
