Volunteers Needed To Become 'Living Art' For Pageant Of The Masters

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Do you have some free time and a passion for art? Can you stand still for 90 seconds? The open casting call for the 2023 Pageant of the Masters is gearing up, and here's what residents need to know if they want to be a part of the magic of living art.

In preparation for next summer's show, Art Colony: In the Company of Artists, the Pageant is seeking men, women and children to volunteer. People of all sizes and ages will be considered to perform in the show, and no theater experience is necessary.

“It is common to see several generations of the same family volunteering for different aspects of the show,”Sharbie Higuchi, Festival of Arts Marketing/PR Director, said in a statement. “Not only is it a great way to spend your summer with friends and loved ones, but also, by volunteering for the Pageant, students can earn credit towards community service requirements.”

At the casting call, prospective cast members will be measured and photographed, organizers said. Refreshments will be served and those who audition will meet the creative and technical staff for the Pageant.

Volunteers are also urgently needed for behind-the-scenes roles including wardrobe, make-up and headdresses, as well as cast area coordinators and refreshment servers.

The Pageant of the Masters open casting call will be held backstage at the Pageant's festival grounds at 650 Laguna Canyon Road on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Jan. 8 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
