Wildfire Preparedness Week In Laguna Beach
It's wildfire preparedness week May 5-11, one year since the Aliso Fire. Stay prepared for any circumstance in Laguna Beach.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — One year ago, the Aliso Fire raged across Laguna Beach. Lessons learned, what worked, what didn't, have not been forgotten.
This Week is Wildfire Preparedness Week, the city of Laguna Beach announced. The week of fire readiness, orchestrated by Governor Gavin Newsom, enables fire departments across the state to educate residents on fire safety in and around your home. Such information includes how to protect communities during times of extreme weather.
"To help protect customers and communities during extreme weather events, the electrical utility company may decide to shut off power for public safety to prevent a wildfire," City Manager John Pietig said in recent release. "During a Public Safety Power Shutoff, all customers serviced by an affected power line will have their power shut off and it is critical that you have a plan in place for an extended power outage."
