Woman Arrested In Fatal Laguna Beach Hit-And-Run

An 18-year-old Costa Mesa woman was arrested Friday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Laguna Beach that killed one OC Man.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — An 18-year-old woman was arrested on Friday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed one Orange County man and injured his wife Thursday in Laguna Beach, authorities said in a statement.

Costa Mesa resident Sysillia Morrison Montes De Oca, 18, turned herself in to the Laguna Beach Police Department at around 6 p.m. Friday. She was booked for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and felony hit-and-run, according to a LBPD statement.

According to authorities, Morrison Montes de Oca posted the set $100,000 and was released from the jail pending court proceedings.

The fatal hit-and-run happened on Thursday night, near South Coast Highway and Pearl Street in Laguna Beach.

A 60-year-old man died Thursday night after his wife were struck by a vehicle while they were crossing the street. They were in Laguna Beach celebrating their anniversary, police said.

The pair were hit around 9:38 p.m. while crossing the city intersection. The driver of a light-colored Volkswagen sedan struck the couple as they attempted to cross, the Laguna Beach Police Department said in a statement.

The driver reportedly failed to stop at the intersection and fled the scene, police said.

The victim was identified by police as Stanley Isaacs, of Costa Mesa. Both he and his wife were taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the victims of this tragedy and to their family during this difficult time," said Laguna Beach Police Chief Jeff Calvert.
