1 Dead After Car Gets Pinned By Big Rig On 5 Freeway In South OC
The crash was reported at 5:16 a.m. on the freeway traveling southbound through San Juan Capistrano, the California Highway Patrol said.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — One person died early Tuesday morning after a car and a semi truck crashed on the Interstate 5 Freeway traveling through south Orange County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash was reported at 5:16 a.m. early Tuesday morning on the freeway traveling south near Junipero Serra Road, authorities said. When officers arrived, they found a victim riding in the car critically injured by the crash.
By 5:35 a.m., authorities called the Orange County Coroner to the scene in order to identify the body. No information on the victim was immediately available.

The crash prompted officials to issue a SigAlert for the area Tuesday. The fatality resulted in snarled traffic on the freeway for most of Tuesday morning.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
