Actors Annette Bening, Ed Harris in Dana Point to Film New Romantic Comedy

The stars were in town along with 65 crew members, three cast trailers, a camera crane, and other lighting and camera equipment. In September, John Travolta filmed "Savages" at the harbor.

Dana Point might be almost 60 miles from Hollywood, but it doesn't stop filmmakers from driving down to use the seaside community as a backdrop for movie locations.

On April 26, the harbor served as a staging location for a new film called The Look of Love starring actors Annette Bening, Ed Harris and Robin Williams. According to the website IMDb, it is about “A widow who falls for a guy who bears a striking resemblance to her late husband.”

Harris and Bening were on-site, however, Williams was not present, said Marissa O’Neil, spokesperson for OC Parks, who granted the film permit.

The permit for the harbor area, as well as for Aliso Beach Park, was issued from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and included 65 crew members, three cast trailers, a camera crane, and other lighting and camera equipment.

“Orange County has so many scenic parks, beaches, historical buildings and harbors – like Dana Point – that residents can enjoy all the time. It’s nice when Hollywood recognizes that, too, and uses them in their movies for all the world to see,” O'Neil said.

In September the film , Salma Hayek and Blake Lively was also filmed at Dana Point harbor. Also, some scenes from the George Clooney's 2000 film The Perfect Storm were filmed in Dana Point.

O’Neil said another recent movie at an OC Parks facility was J. Edgar. Portions were filmed in February 2011 at the Old Orange County Courthouse in Santa Ana.

As for more film crews coming to Dana Point or Laguna Niguel she said, “No upcoming film permits other than student films, which happen with some regularity at our facilities.”
