ANHS PTSA Raising Money for Classroom Technology
The Don't Come to Tea fundraiser has already reached it goal of $8,000 but is looking to raise more.

Most fundraisers require you to sell something at a bake sale, volunteer or buy an expensive dinner. The Aliso Niguel High School PTSA’s Don’t Come to Tea fundraiser is different.
Each spring, ANHS families are asked to make a simple tax-deductable donation. "We just ask for a donation that goes straight into student curriculum and technology funding,” PTSA President Heidi Reiser said.
The goal for the fundraiser was $8,000, and to date the PTSA has raised $8,093, but it will continue to raise funds.

Every year the PTSA board and the school administration meet to determine how to spend fundraising money in order to benefit the most students. Just like last year, the PTSA is focusing on upgrading technology in the classrooms.
Last year, it was “clicker” response systems for classrooms, and this year the PTSA has approved the purchase of document readers and projectors for classrooms at a cost of $5,500.

ANHS has about 60 projectors and 10 document readers. A document reader lets a teacher place anything underneath it and it then appears on the screen. These are expensive items, and the PTSA hopes to purchase as many as possible.
To date, the PTSA has purchased four document readers and two new projectors—but the school has about 100 teachers.
The PTSA funds much more than just technology upgrades for classrooms. It also funds events such as "Reflections," a popular student art show. In addition, it funds newsletters, parent education events, safety supplies and student award events.
With the $8,000, the PTSA plans to spend $5,500 on document readers and projectors and the remaining $2,500 on items such as library technology, classroom sets of textbooks, and other supplies that are requested by academic departments.
Families and donors are encouraged to find out if their employers have a Matching Gift Program, which would double the original donation.
“These are challenging times, and families in high school are asked to fund a lot: activities, clubs. The unique thing about PTSA is that we serve every student all year. That is why we need everyone's support,” Reiser said.
