Belligerent Homeless Man Charged With Threatening Anaheim Woman

She had seen the homeless man many times, but when he allegedly chased her down, exposed himself and made threats, he was arrested.

ANAHEIM, CA — A 28-year-old man charged Tuesday with exposing himself, threatening and chasing a woman in Anaheim last week is still behind bars. Jeremy Roy Turner, who turns 29 on Friday, was accused of confronting the victim at approximately 11 a.m., Thursday, said Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt.

The woman recognized Turner because she had seen the homeless man near her work, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Lynda Fernandez.

Turner was following her when and "speaking aggressively" to her before asking her, "Do you have a problem with me," Fernandez said.

The defendant "flicked a small white stick" -- possibly a lollipop stick -- at the victim and continued to follow her as she ran way, Fernandez alleged. As he chased her he threatened to sexually assault her and exposed himself, Fernandez alleged.

The woman dashed into La Colmena Bakery at 3174 Lincoln Ave., where a patron pushed the door shut to keep Turner out, Fernandez alleged.

Turner continued to shout that he would sexually assault the woman while exposing himself outside the store, Fernandez alleged.

Turner was caught a short time later on Lincoln Avenue with $1,200 in lottery tickets that had been stolen from a liquor store that night, Wyatt said.

Turner has two prior strikes from an assault with a firearm case in 2008, Fernandez said.
Turner was also facing an attempted robbery case out of Anaheim on Sept. 21, according to court records.

Turner was charged Tuesday with a felony count each of receiving stolen property, assault with intent to commit a sex offense and a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure.
