Botox Nurse Admits to Illegally Peddling Product at Popular Laguna Niguel Spa

The owner of a Laguna Niguel Day Spa pleaded guilty on Thursday to illegally distributing Botox without a physician.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — Real Housewives of the OC need to find other places to get their Botox injections than Pure Indulgence Skin Rejuvenation. An FDA sting operation outed the day spa for its practices of illegally distributing Botox without a physician. As of Thursday Nov. 10, the Dana Point area registered nurse pleaded guilty to illegally distributing Botox in a day spa she operated in Laguna Niguel, according to federal prosecutors.

Bridget "Gigi" Goddard, a 50-year-old Dana Point resident who owned Pure Indulgence Skin Rejuvenation, is expected to plead guilty to one count of receipt and delivery of a misbranded drug, according to Thom Mrozek of the U.S. Attorney's Office. She reportedly received the drug from multiple international locations including Canada and Turkey.

Prosecutors filed the charge Thursday along with a plea agreement.

Botox products, which are made by Allergan, can only be doled out under the supervision of a licensed doctor. Goddard admits in the plea deal that she obtained Botox through online sources in Canada over several years, Mrozek said.

One of the Canadian companies that supplied her with the drug, SB Medical Inc., pleaded guilty in federal court in Virginia and was ordered to pay a $45 million fine and forfeit $30 million for sending misbranded drugs into the U.S., Mrozek said.

Goddard acquired Botox made for distribution in other countries such as Turkey and not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for delivery in the U.S., Mrozek said.

Goddard was caught in April by an undercover FDA agent pretending to be one of her customers, Mrozek said.

Goddard will make her first appearance in federal court on the case on Dec. 12.
