A Walk to Remember

Today Hundreds of Children Are Remembered through The Compassionate Friends Walk to Remember in Costa Mesa.

A SPECIAL day remembering our kids who are gone too soon. Today in Costa Mesa, The Compassionate Friends Walk to Remember took place. Hundreds of people from across the country joined hands and walked in honor of children who have died. The names of 15,000 children are carried and remembered. My son, Jarrod is one of those names. Although he is remembered every minute of my day, today brings back many memories. The day Jarrod Paul Barber was born, his gorgeous blue eyes, his love for baseball, dirt-biking, body-surfing, Hawai, animals, and especially his love for family and friends.

Jarrod passed away on January 8, 2010 from an accidental prescription drug overdose at the age of nineteen. Three days before he passed, his close friend since kindergarten, Chase Crawford Quickel passed away at the age of twenty after a seven year battle with cancer. Chase was a sweet young man. So polite and always had a smile on his face. He wasn't going to let cancer stop him from enjoying life. He and his bestfriend, Blake spent many days deep-sea fishing on their boat, "Chasin Dreams." Chase is dearly missed by many. Jarrod and Chase are together in heaven along with their friends who have died from RX overdoses. Addiction and cancer are two diseases that destroy lives and families. The difference is cancer is not a persons choice. Addiction is. Addiction, can be stopped through help! If you get help while young, you can live a full, happy life! There are several resources out there. My web site called, Onechoicecandestroy, has numbers to call. Make that call. Your life is worth living!
