Coroner IDs Elsinore Resident Struck, Killed By Metrolink Train
A Lake Elsinore man was killed Monday night when he was struck by an oncoming train in Dana Point. The OC Coroner has ID'd the victim.

LAKE ELSNIORE, CA — A Lake Elisnore man was killed and another person was injured when they were struck by a passenger train in Dana Point on Monday afternoon. The victims were in an area closed to pedestrians, Metrolink officials said.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. Monday involving the Metrolink's OC train 609, which was traveling from Oceanside to Los Angeles, Metrolink Spokesman Chris Gutierrez said.
Ernest Gibson, 71-year-old of Lake Elsniore, died from the impact, officials said. The other person survived, but information on that person's condition was not known as of this report.

Trains were delayed for more than two hours while the incident was investigated and alternative transportation was provided to the train's 64 passengers, the Register reported.
