Updated: Couple Allegedly Shoots at Park Ranger During Wild Chase
A couple allegedly shot at two park rangers in Dana Point before crashing into a fire pit and flipping their car.

DANA POINT, CA A man and a woman from Texas were arrested after a search that began when one of them allegedly shot at two park rangers in Dana Point, authorities said today.
Rene Joseph Bolduc, 41, and Teresa Nanette Kirkland, 46, were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and obstruction of justice, according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.
The shooting took place in the 25300 block of Dana Point Harbor Drive about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies responded to a call for help from park rangers after shots were fired at them.

The park rangers came upon the suspects inside a car and stopped to check if the couple had a permit to camp there, but the driver suddenly took off, a sheriff’s lieutenant told a news photographer at the scene. The car was then driven into a fire pit and overturned, the lieutenant said.
The couple tried to flee on foot but deputies caught up with the woman first and placed her under arrest. The man was found in the water by a helicopter crew and taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s department.

During the pursuit, one of the suspects shot at the park rangers, according to sheriff’s officials, who said both were treated at the scene by paramedics for injuries resulting from the car crash before being taken to a hospital for further treatment.
