The woman landed about 30 feet from the top of the cliff and rescuers used a rope system to bring her to the top, Holaday said. The man fell about 200 feet, landing in some brush and a rescuer was lowered to free him and take him to the base of the cliff.

The man and woman were taken to a hospital as trauma patients but their conditions were not available.

It wasn't clear how the pair fell but sheriff's officials said drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors.
