Reader Submission: Dana Hills Girls Varsity Tennis vs. University Oct. 12
Girls' tennis team edges past university with a 10-8 win.
Last year the only non-league match between Dana Hills and University was cancelled due to rain. This year that almost happened again, the scheduled match was rained out but Dana Hills Coach Green and University Coach Kessler made sure to reschedule the match so that the two top teams in Southern Orange County could meet before CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.
The match was worthy of a CIF Finals match. The Dana Hills Dolphins were led by their 1-2-3 singles, Alyssa Smith, Margo Pletcher and Jessica Perez who all swept giving the Dolphins 9 sets. University almost swept in doubles but lost one set to the No. 1 Dolphins team of Cassidy Spearman and Jacqueline Stewart 1-6. That was all the Dolphins needed for a 10-8 win.
The Dolphins were up 4-2 after the first round, but when all three doubles teams lost in the second round nothing was certain. The third round still found the Dolphins without a win in doubles and the coaches started counting games in case the sets where tied.
