South County Smash and Grab Burglars Make off with Cash Register

Twice this week, a trio of burglars has broke into South County businesses to steal entire cash registers.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies are on the lookout for a trio of smash and grab cash register thieves who hit a Mission Viejo liquor store and may be tied to another burglary in Dana Point.

The robbery occurred at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning Mission Viejo Liquor at 25571 Jeronimo Road, said Lt. Mark Stichter.

They shattered the front window to steal the cash register,” said Stichter.

It’s not known how much money the thieves made off with. The crime is similar to a smash and grab burglary that happened in Dana Point earlier this week. In that incident, a trio of burglars dressed in coats and masks broke the window of Dana Point’s Aurora's Taqueria on Pacific Coast Highway and stole the cash register in the early morning.

“There appears to be some similarities but it’s unknown if they are the same suspects,” Stichter said.
