Fresh & Easy will present a donation to a local non-profit organization as part of the opening.  Several weeks ago, the company invited anyone in the neighborhood to visit its website (www.freshandeasy.com/goodneighbor) to nominate a charitable group to receive a $1,000 donation.   The store’s new employees will vote on submissions and choose the winner to be named at the opening day celebration.

“We can’t wait to open.  We’ve been working hard to get the store ready and we are looking forward to everyone coming in to say hello,” said Willie Carroll, store manager. “We have some great offers on a few of our products and we’ll be giving away reusable bags on opening day.  Once people try our great food at prices that fit any budget, they’ll get why Fresh & Easy is starting to change the way people shop.”

In addition to fresh, high-quality prepared meals and produce, Fresh & Easy offers everyone’s favorite national brand products and household items, all at budget prices.

Fresh & Easy’s own-brand products contain no added trans fats, no artificial colors or flavors, and only use preservatives when absolutely necessary.

As a good neighbor and steward of the environment, Fresh & Easy recycles or reuses all its shipping and display materials and uses environmentally-friendly trailers to transport food.  The company is a pilot member of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Volume Certification Program and has invested in a 500,000 sq ft solar roof installation on its distribution center.

This Fresh & Easy location will employ 20 to 30 people and intends to hire from the local neighborhood.  The company provides the opportunity for all employees to work at least 20 hours a week, which entitles them to comprehensive healthcare and competitive benefits.  Entry-level positions will pay well over the minimum wage, starting at $10 an hour in California, with a potential quarterly bonus of up to 10%.
