George White Elementary School Will Have New Principal

Michael Spelber gave notice that he is leaving the school in June to retire after 10 yeasr.

Principal Michael Spelber is retiring next month.

"I have decided to retire at the end of this coming June. I have so enjoyed my 10 years at George White school," he said in a statement. "I will miss being with our students, parents, and most of all my incredible staff. I thank you for your support and friendship."

The district office has announced Dr. Gregory Merwin as the school's new incoming principal:

"Dr. Merwin has been an elementary level principal since 2007. He currently serves as the principal of Robert M. Pyles School in the Magnolia School District. His current superintendent describes him as an incredible instructional leader whose work is clearly focused on students and learning. He shared that he is honored to have been selected for a leadership role in the Capistrano Unified School District."
