Hundreds Of Volunteers Flock To Doheny State Beach For Cleanup

The City of Dana Point participated in Coastal Cleanup Day Saturday, bringing residents and nonprofits to the shore of Doheny State Beach.

DANA POINT, CA — Hundreds of volunteers flocked to Doheny State Beach on Saturday to take part in California Coastal Cleanup Day, the city announced Monday.

According to the city, 350 pounds of trash and 55 pounds of recyclables were collected thanks to the 225 volunteers who took to the shores Saturday.

Among the volunteers, the city thanked resident Vicki Wiker, the Doheny State Beach Foundation, girl scouts, boy scouts, corporate groups, church groups and a local daddy-daughter outdoor group.

Stand Up To Trash also had a large turnout for their clean-up event at Baby Beach, where 680 volunteers removed 735.38 pounds of trash.
