LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — A Laguna Niguel man was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of lighting American flags on fire outside of Long Beach homes, the Orange County Register reported.

Long Beach officials would not comment on how many flags the man, 35-year-old John Leo Meylor, is accused of setting on fire. They did tell the OC Register that Meylor was arrested on suspicion of 13 counts of arson, one felony count of arson of an inhabited structure, and a violation of parole.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 3:30 a.m. to a reported car fire in the 2800 block of Iroquois Avenue, Capt. Jack Crabtree of the Long Beach Police Department told City News Service.

Meylor was arrested by police in the area of El Dorado Park in the 2900 block of North Studebaker Road just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the report said.
