Local Graduate Earns Spot on Capital One Football Academic All American Team

Matt Peleti, a 2009 valedictorian graduate from was recently selected for the Capital One Football Academic All American District 8 Team.

The former Wolverine is a junior at the University of San Diego where he plays offensive lineman for the Toreros. In high school, Matt played under Coach Jeff Veeder and was selected South Coast All League and National Football Federation Scholar Athlete. 

Capital One selects the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Matt is a finance major with a 3.59 GPA and has been a stand out two-year starter for the 8-2 Toreros. 

The Capital One award is given to eight districts across the country.  The West Coast, District 8, encompasses eight states and includes FBS and FCS schools such as Stanford and the University of San Diego. 

The Academic All American District 8 honorees will now advance to the Capital One Academic All American National Team selection later this month.
