Man Severely Burned in Laguna Niguel Apartment Fire

Neighbors tried to rescue the man, but they were pushed back by smoke and fire.

A man was hospitalized with severe burns today after being rescued from a burning apartment in Laguna Niguel.

The fire at The Palms apartments in the 28,100 block of Moulton Parkway was reported around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, a news videographer reported from the scene said, adding that neighbors tried to rescue the victim but were driven back by smoke and flames.

Orange County Fire Authority firefighters were eventually able to rescue the man from the apartment, the videographer reported. A firefighter at the OCFA Laguna Niguel station said the victim suffered severe, life-threatening burns.
