Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social Is Tonight
George White Elementary School hosts the annual event from 5:30-7 p.m., featuring ice cream sundaes and a Hula Hoop contest.

Grab your poodle skirt and Pomade hair cream, because the annual ice cream social is set for tonight.
The 1950s-themed event begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. at the school, at 25422 Chapparosa Park Rd.
Be sure to come dressed in '50s attire and ready to dance the night away and enjoy ice cream sundaes and root beer floats for $2. Candy and popcorn will also be sold. Stay for the Hula Hoop and bubble blowing contests.

Jenny Tucker, the PTA chairwoman, said the event is going to be great for all ages.
"This event is well attended by George White students, their families and faculty. It is a great event to kick off the start of the school year in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.”

This event is not a typical fundraiser, Tucker said, but is intended only "to break even, or make a small contribution to the general PTA funds that help our school's programs funded by PTA."
Over the years, the event has attracted from 700 to 1,000 attendees and continues to be popular among Laguna Niguel residents.
"I feel like being able to see the teachers outside of school is a huge draw to the students. It's also a great opportunity for families to visit together without the pressure of fundraising," she said.
