READER SUBMISSION: Revenge is Sweet for Dana Hills Boys Tennis

Dolphin Boys' Tennis Team stunned by their defeat to San Clemente 4-14 in its first match of the season, eagerly anticipated a rematch, which they got playing San Clemente again on Tuesday, April 17, at home this time. The boys did not disappoint, coming up with a 10-8 win.

Coach Justin Green stated, "The boys always enjoy playing San Clemente and that first lose was really rough, but we've switched around some doubles teams and were really amped to have another shot at them.  I was proud of all of them, they really played like a team today and it showed."  

Chase Masciorini, at No.1 singles, stayed strong and swept all three of his sets, but Coach Green was especially impressed with his No. 3 doubles team Ivan Jelic and Jon Alami, who after having four set points against the San Clemente team of Greenberg/Whitaker, two at 5-3 and two more again at 5-4, eventually lost that set 6-7 and then had to face the SC team of Hegewald/LaBarre who had won their first two sets easily.  

This was the last set of the day, and it would decide the match.  Both teams were being cheered on by their teammates and when Jelic/Alami got down 3-5 it wasn't looking good. SC had a set (match) point, but double faulted. Jelic/Alami stepped up their game and won the next three games making it 6-5, SC rallied to get it to a tie breaker and took an early lead, but once again Jelic/Alami dug deep and at 2-4 in the tie break they both found another notch and won the next five points winning the set 7-6 (7-4) and giving Dana the 10-8 win.

1. Doubles--Wong/Uddberg(DH) lost to Stanley/K. Mariano(SC) 0-6, lost to Greenberg/Whitaker(SC) 0-6, def. Hegewald/LaBarre(SC) 6-4. 

2. Doubles--Corley/Funato(DH) 2-6,7-6,6-4. 

3. Doubles--Jelic/Alami(DH) 7-6,6-7,6-3.
