Spring Love - A Prelude to Nowruz
A cultural as well as educational musical coming to prestigious Soka University's Performing Arts Center on Saturday 2/21 @ 7:30 p.m.
“Spring Love” is based on the story of an Iranian woman celebrating Nowruz (the Persian New Year) in three different stages of her life: Her life as a teenager living in Iran; her move abroad as a young women falling in love with a non-Iranian man; and finally, her introducing Nowruz to her child from the new generation of Iranian-Americans.
The purpose of this performance is to introduce the intricate cultural rituals embedded in the practice and rituals of Nowruz and to establish a link between Persian culture and the culture of the host country. “Sprig Love “shares the story of Iranian migration, the pain of separation and the experience of life in a liminal space, illuminating the space of transition and transformation from what we were into what we are becoming.
