SWAT Team Arrests Laguna Niguel Murder Suspect

A sheriff's SWAT team arrested an alleged gang member suspected of stabbing to death a 22-year-old man at a Laguna Niguel bar.

A 37-year-old alleged gang member suspected of stabbing to death a 22-year-old man during a fight at a Laguna Niguel bar was arrested today by a sheriff’s SWAT team.

Craig Tanber was taken into custody at about 6:30 a.m. at a Motel 6 at 13100 Goldenwest St. in Westminster, said Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The stabbing at Patsy’s Irish Pub at 28971 Golden Lantern St. was reported at 12:15 a.m. Monday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. There was no immediate word on what prompted the bar fight.

The victim -- identified by the Orange County coroner’s office as 22- year-old Shayan Mazroei of Laguna Niguel -- was transported to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Tanber is “a documented gang member with a significant criminal history,” Hallock said.
