Trustees Name New Principal for Dana Hills High School

The Capistrano Unified School District board of trustees on Monday evening named Jason Allemann to the post. He starts July 1.

The board of trustees on Monday evening named Jason Allemann, Ed.D., principal of , according to a news release issued by the district.

Allemann, currently principal at Katella High School in Anaheim, will officially begin his new job July 1. He follows , who has been hired to lead the newly created West View Academy.

“As an educational leader, Jason is committed to doing what is best and right for students,” Superintendent Joseph Farley said. “It is evident that he is approachable, actively listens, and involves multiple stakeholder groups in the development and implementation of a successful high school program. He will be an excellent addition to the district and the high achieving community at Dana Hills High School.”

Allemann has been principal at Katella for four years. Before that, he was a middle school principal, high school vice principal and counselor. He also has private and public sector experience working with young adults identified as severely emotionally disturbed. He also has experience in targeted learning for English learners and special-education students, according to the news release.

He has a bachelor's degree in psychology from San Diego State University, a master's in social work from Cal State Long Beach and a doctorate in educational leadership of urban schools from the University of Southern California. He received his pupil personnel services and administrative credentials from Cal State Long Beach, according to the district.

Dana Hills High School is a former national Blue Ribbon School and a California Distinguished School. It has 2,855 students and a 2010 Base Academic Performance Index of 850.
