Another Brush Fire Breaks Out In La Jolla
The blaze broke out Saturday in a canyon between Caminito Genio and Rutgers Road.

LA JOLLA, CA – Firefighters battled a brush fire Saturday in La Jolla. The blaze broke out around 2:10 p.m. in a canyon between Caminito Genio and Rutgers Road, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
San Diego firefighters, as well as crews from Federal, Miramar and Coronado fire departments responded to the scene and held the fire to an acre. Both air and ground crews fought the flames.
Homes are located on both sides of the canyon, but none of them were considered to be threatened. No evacuations were issued. The fire caused no structural damage or injuries.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
This was the second brush fire in La Jolla in two days. About 11:30 a.m. Friday, a fire sparked in a canyon off the 5400 block of Caminito Bayo, according to fire officials. The fire blackened steep open terrain near large homes but caused no structural damage or injuries.

Firefighters fought the flames on the ground and aboard several water-dropping helicopters, officials said. It took crews about an hour to contain the roughly quarter-acre blaze.
