CAVA School Students Deliver Holiday Greetings and Gifts
Online Students Gather for Toy Drive Supporting the Ronald McDonald House
On Thursday, Dec. 10, a delegation of California Virtual Academy@ San Diego (CAVA) students, parents, and teachers met up at the Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) in San Diego for a chance to give back to the community. Volunteers arrived with aprons in hand and holiday baking on their minds!
During their two-hour shift, volunteers made approximately 16-dozen baked goods which were set out for house residents to enjoy. Goodies included decorated Christmas cookies, brownies, and even eggnog cookies! The treats were a huge hit, and very much appreciated by the house residents, most of whom are there under extremely stressful circumstances.
CAVA has an ongoing relationship with the RMHC and has already done several other volunteer events there this year. RMHC depends on volunteers to maintain day-to-day operations, and these events are always an opportunity for CAVA students to experience first-hand the joy of serving others. At these volunteer opportunities, students are able to mingle with residents and staff, and see how their efforts are appreciated by others.

By the conclusion of the service event, RMHC residents had full tummies, and the CAVA volunteers had full hearts!
