Hotel Parisi in La Jolla Closes Its Doors

The boutique hotel, which opened in 1999, closed May 1.

Travelers to La Jolla have one less hotel to select from. Hotel Parisi at 1111 Prospect Street closed its doors to guests on May 1.

An office tenant will replace the hotel, according to the U-T San Diego.

Owner Peter Wagener told the paper the while the hotel was financially successful, he had the opportunity to rent the space to an office tenant.

“It's a small hotel, and it had no chance to grow and I'm old and my son isn't interested,” Wagener told the U-T. “This was originally intended it to be office (space), we ran into the recession, couldn't find what we wanted, and then it became a hotel.”

Wagener did not say who would be renting the 20,000 square-foot space.
