Local Artists Showcase Work at Maker's Fest in Bird Rock
Bird Rock Art Gallery will host a monthly Maker's Fest on the last Saturday of every month to give the community the opportunity to engage with local artists.
Bird Rock Art Gallery brought together artists from studios throughout California for its first Maker's Fest on Saturday. Artists displayed their work in booths set up behind the gallery, gave demonstrations and accepted custom commissioned work from clients.
"This is an opportunity for members of the community to reach out to a whole range of unique artists," said Fernando Pinon, owner of TexasModern.
Some featured studios this month were Arhalu, My Art Shed, Helms Brewing Co. and Wall Flavor. Musical guest SeaSalt Blondie provided the afternoon entertainment, performing original songs as well as covers like Landslide.

Members of the community were invited to paint a square of the kid-friendly Community Mural, designed by Pinon. The finished product will be photographed and sold for $10 a print.
The gallery also held a raffle at the event, giving away $25 and $100 gift certificates for Arhalu to benefit the San Diego Police Department's store front renovations.
