Local Students Excel at University
Five local students were recognized for academic excellence.

Karleigh Ash was among over 1800 students from Wake Forest University who made the Fall Dean's List.
Axel Blocker, a student at Cornell College in Iowa, has been named to the fall 2011 Dean's list, earning High honors. Cornell named 268 students, or about 22 percent of its enrollment, to the Dean's List for the spring semester.
A grade point average of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale is required for this designation. "Highest honors" are granted to students with 4.0 averages; "high honors" are awarded to students with 3.8 to 3.99 averages; and "honors" include grade point averages of 3.6 to 3.79.

Cathleen Evans, a sophomore School of Nursing student at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., was named to the fall Dean's List for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Full-time students who earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the Dean's Honor Roll.

Adam Kushnir earned a Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College, an accredited, private, nonprofit institution that focuses on the needs of working adults
Benjamin Schrier made the Dean's List at for the fall quarter of 2011. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at DePaul University, students must earn above a 3.0 grade point average on a four-point-scale.
