Recently Recalled Foods To Avoid In California: LIST

CALIFORNIA – From meat products to romaine lettuce, several foods have been recalled recently in California and across the country due to some sort of contamination. Here's a list of the foods you want to avoid:

Romaine Lettuce: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a food safety alert for a multi-state E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce. According to the CDC, 32 people in 11 states, including California, have been infected with E. coli in the latest outbreak. At least 13 people have been hospitalized and one person developed a type of kidney failure. No deaths have been reported.

Jennie-O Ground Turkey: Jennie-O recalled more than 91,000 pounds of raw ground turkey in an ongoing salmonella outbreak, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service. At least 164 people have been sickened in 35 states. One person in California has died and 63 people have been hospitalized.

Duncan Hines Cake Mix: Conagra Brands recalled four types of Duncan Hines cake mix due to possible salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The voluntary recall came after Conagra Brands discovered that a sample of cake mix matched the DNA fingerprint identified by the CDC in five cases of salmonella illnesses, according to the FDA.

Ground Beef: JBS Tolleson Inc. recalled 6.9 million pounds of beef products because they may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the CDC. A total of 246 people have been infected in 25 states, including California. At least 59 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

Raw Chicken: An outbreak strain of salmonella infantis linked to raw chicken products from a variety of sources is also under investigation, according to the CDC. There have been 92 cases in 29 states, including California. At least 21 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.
