UCSD Gathers Graduates for Final Farewell Party: Food, Fun and Friends
All Campus Graduation Celebration 2012 attracts 1,000 students and families to RIMAC Field.
On the eve of graduation at UC San Diego, an estimated 1,000 seniors and families gathered Friday night to celebrate their achievements with music, free food and beer—and fireworks. At a ceremony with Chancellor Marye Anne Fox and keynote speaker Sandi Logan—UCSD alumna and vice president of casting at ABC Entertainment Group—students were relaxed and cheerful among fellow classmates.
John Yamauchi, a pharmacy student, received the award for the Outstanding Graduate Student. Danielle Cipres, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in human biology, received the Outstanding Senior award.
Students attended the ceremony, ate dinner while listening to music and enjoyed the fireworks during the two-hour festivities. On RIMAC Field Saturday, Marshall College will have its commencement at 8 a.m., Revelle at 1 p.m. and Muir at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Warren will have its graduation at 8 a.m., Roosevelt at 1 p.m. and Sixth College at 5 p.m.
