UCSD to Honor World AIDS Day

UCSD has a plethora of activities and memorials for Thursday's World AIDS Day.

World AIDS Day is this Thursday and La Jolla’s university, UC San Diego is having an all day event to commemorate the day.

In honor of World AIDS Day, UCSD will have a special viewing of an on campus. The quilt was founded in 1987 and is made up of blocks of fabric sewn together. There are more than 40,000 panels on the quilt, each one memorializing the life of a person lost to AIDS.

The quilt will be on display from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Price Center Ballroom East. Other activities on campus throughout the day in honor of World AIDS Day include a candlelight vigil in the morning, also at the Price Center Ballroom East, from 7-8 a.m. A special photography exhibit that showcases AIDS survivors will be on display near the quilt and various pianists will play throughout the day at the quilt exhibit.
