Walk the Pier: Full Moon Walk on Scripps Pier
Birch Aquarium offers access to Scripps Pier for a walk under a full moon during summer months. The "Full Moon Walk" program starts Wednesday.

Scripps Pier is locked. Researchers at use the 1,090-foot concrete pier for research. The pier also serves as a platform to collect marine life and deploy small boats and oceanographic instruments. But for a handful of night each year, the gate is opened to a few curious visitors.
will host its annual Full Moon Pier Walk on six summer evenings this year. The first walk is scheduled for Wednesday. During the walk aquarium naturalists teach participates about the structure, tour Scripps Institution Oceanography’s campus and even learn about creatures that live in the ocean below the pier.
While the full moon walks on Wednesday and Thursday are sold out, the other evenings still have availability.
