100 Wildland Firefighting Positions Open At RivCo Hiring Fair

Do you have what it takes to be a Bureau of Land Management Wildland Firefighter? See what jobs are available at this weekend's hiring fair.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Have you dreamed of becoming a wildland firefighter? The Bureau of Land Management is hosting a hiring event in Riverside on Friday to fill over 100 vital wildland firefighter and dispatch positions throughout the state for the 2024 fire year.

The three-day, in-person event was planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on Friday, Dec. 1, Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Pacific Southwest Research Station at 4955 Canyon Crest Drive in Riverside.

Applicants are encouraged to attend the in-person event but may apply online in advance.

At the hiring fair, staff will review resumes, process applications, conduct interviews and background checks, and potentially make job offers, according to a recent statement from State Fire Management Officer Peter Kelly.

"California’s need to build our wildland firefighter workforce is increasing and the Bureau of Land Management is looking to expedite the hiring process," Kelly said. "The BLM encourages enthusiastic, energetic individuals looking for a rewarding career in wildland fire management to apply and visit with us during these hiring events."

The BLM has stated they will hire wildland firefighters for engines, hotshots, hand crews, helitack and dispatchers. These positions are summarized on the National Interagency Fire Center's wildland fire job page.
