14-Year-Old Girl Sexually Assaulted In Perris: Sheriff's Dept.

PERRIS, CA — A man suspected of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl inside a public restroom in Perris Wednesday night was behind bars, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported.

Matthew Lamantain-Leatherman, 30, was being held at Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of kidnapping and attempted rape, according to jail records.

The alleged incident was reported around 8:53 p.m. in the 1200 block of Burton Road.

The suspect fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival but a license plate number was obtained, according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies traced the plate to Lamantain-Leatherman and found him at his home in the 22000 block of Hayes Street in Good Hope, the sheriff's department said. He was arrested at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday, jail records show.

"Deputies located and detained the suspect, Matthew Lamantain-Leatherman, who was later positively identified by the victim," the sheriff's department reported.

Lamantain-Leatherman was being held in jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
