2020 Primary Election Results: Riverside County District 1
Incumbent Supervisor Kevin Jeffries secured his seat in Tuesday's election.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Supervisor Kevin Jeffries, who was first elected to the First District in 2012 after terming out in the state assembly, defended his seat against a sheriff's deputy and a community activist.
He garnered more than 50 percent of ballots cast in Tuesday's primary election, beating out challengers Deputy Melissa Bourbonnais and longtime Mead Valley resident Debbie Walsh.
Because of Jeffries' strong results — 25,582 votes compared to second-place finisher Walsh at 11,303 and Bourbonnais at 10,990, there will likely be no runoff election. To win, candidates in the county race need to secure 50 percent plus 1 of all ballots cast.

However, Super Tuesday's results are not final. Countywide, approximately 125,000 vote-by-mail, 50,000 provisional and 10,000 damaged ballots that require duplication still must be processed. Work on those begins Wednesday morning. Ballots that are postmarked on or before Election Day and received no later than Friday also remain to be counted.
The next updated results from the County of Riverside Registrar of Voters will be posted at 6 p.m. Friday.
